"back from the road trip" an old diary entry written on August 17, 2001

It is 4:11 p.m. home from picking up Caleb Jon in East Lansing (which is about 100 miles from our front door)-I left here around 8:25 a.m. and got to his place at 10:10 a.m.-drove the Jetta not the caravan-it rained as I drove which freaked me but I made it safe-a mercy of God I did not get in a car wreck-Caleb Jon was waiting for me-he has grown a beard-we packed the car with some of his stuff-he wanted to go get coffee and a muffin before hitting the Road-I wanted to visit the record stores-so we got coffee and I visited the record stores-I got several Starflyer CD's-I got their new CD "leave here a stranger" "Americana" "Fell In Love At 22" "Le Vainqueur Jude 13-15" and "She's the Queen"-I also got a CD by Further Seems Forever "the moon is down" and the new Teenage Fan Club CD "Howdy!"-after the record store-(I let Caleb Jon buy a CD) we headed to Grand Rapids to visit my favorite Christian bookstore-the sun was out by this time-Caleb drove and talked to me about movies, books, Radiohead and not eating meat etc. . . Caleb Jon is a real talker like me-at the Bookstore I got most of the books on my list plus some other books-here is what I bought for my book collection---

"The Religion of Paul the Apostle" by John Ashton

"New Testament Christology" by Frank J. Matera

"The Triumph of Abraham's God: The Transformation of Identity in Galatians" by Bruce W. Longenecker

"A Theology Of The Cross:The Death Of Jesus In The Pauline Letters" by Charles B. Cousar

"Galatians" a commentary [Sacra Pagina series] by Frank J. Matera

"Theology Of The Old Testament" by Walter Brueggemann

"Jesus And The Politics Of His Day" Edited by Ernst Bammel and C.F.D. Moule

"Introducing The New Testament: It's Literature and Theology" by Paul J. Achtemeier, Joel B. Green and Marianne Meye Thompson

After buying the books we headed home-we got Burger King and took the Jetta to the car wash-we were home by 3:15 p.m. in the mail I got a letter from my Christian pen pal who lives in the Scottish High Lands/Scotland and a CD I had ordered by Varnaline "Sweet Life" my wife had been cleaning house-Beth went to the Mall with her girlfriends-Joe was down in the basement-so has gone my vacation Birth Day OFF from the egg pit-my wife went to take a nap-I am not sure what to do next? I am not in the mood to read or write-I could go and sit and feel wasted from living?

Time will go by-I could look at my new books-but I am tired from the trip and I had a hard week existing so I will close to sit and listen to the sounds of modern life.
