How I discovered or acquired this book: Several years ago I heard about the crime writer James Ellroy and started collecting his books.
When & where read: I started reading Ellroy's novel 'L.A. Confidential' about the beginning of January 2021.
Noteworthy experiences while reading this book: I can't say I had any noteworthy experiences reading this crime novel. The novel did though cause me to remember when I was young and we lived in L.A..
Check out author's other books? Or related books? I did buy used James Ellroy's novel, 'White Jazz'. I already have a stack of Ellroy's novels in our library. I can't say right now I plan to read soon any more of Ellroy's crime novels.
(If yes, add them to Books I'd Like to Read-see page 145.)
Rate on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being exceptional)
Quality of writing-I would describe Ellroy's writing style as being cartoonish. Ellroy's character's all come off unreal. Too generalize/stereotypical.
Pace- Even though the crime novel comes off unreal it does have a certain pace to it. The main story does flow through the novel. One does wonder where the story is going to lead/how the police will solve the crimes.
Plot development-I suppose there was a plot to the novel but it did not stand out that clearly.
Characters-all the characters came off like bad movie actors in a Cop Movie.
Enjoyability-I can't say I enjoyed this novel. In some ways the novel made me feel sick inside. I was exposed to the depravity of man page after page. Reading this novel was like have my face shoved into a pool of human blood continually.
Insightfulness-zero
Ease of reading-a High School kid or even a Middle School kid could read this crime novel.

Recommend this book? To whom? I would not recommend this novel to anyone. But if you are looking for a cheap thrill read it/the novel was a absolutely terrible piece of shit.
Notes And Opinions:
Basic plot or contents, setting, main character, point of view, how this book made me feel or what it made me think, great lines of quotes, etc. . .
Overall rating: I would give this novel a two star rating. A compete waste of time.
