the power of the Lord Jesus is present

"Paul's understanding of time and history was fundamentally altered by his encounter with the risen Lord. The age to come was not merely a future reality to be anticipated, but a presently arriving (already) reality to be experienced now in the Spirit, and by faith in the name of Jesus (cf. "when you are assembled in the name of Jesus,. . .and the power of the Lord Jesus is present" [[1 Cor 5:4, emphasis added]).

Paul's soteriology or view of salvation was fundamentally changed: the paradigm was no longer Moses and the law, but Jesus and the Spirit. Salvation was not fundamentally a matter of "works of the law" but rather a matter of faith in Jesus as God's Messiah vindicated by his resurrection (cf. "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification" [Rom 4:25]), fundamentally a matter of a faith like Abraham's, who could not believe that God gives life to the dead and "calls things that are not as though they were" (Rom 4:17). In the light of the resurrection Paul understood that the covenant with Abraham had been fulfilled in Jesus' death and resurrection, and that the gift of the Spirit and the experience of the supernatural powers of the age to come came not by observing the law but through hearing with faith (Gal 3:5)." pg. 65 'Meditation And Communion With God' by John Jefferson Davis
