the duty of prayer

It is in the ice flow 7:43 PM Thursday night. I am down in the lower level doing nothing. I was not sure if I was in the right frame of mind to write in my online diaries this evening. I do not want to come off as a broken record. But I doubt if anyone reads my diary so here I am once again writing in my LJ diary.

My wife went to the Women's Bible Study this evening and won't be home till 9:30 PM. She got up early this afternoon to go get her hair cut she did not get enough sleep today. Most likely she will go to bed early tonight. My wife is always on the go. After she got her hair cut this afternoon she went downtown and walked. I do not know what she plans to do tomorrow. I do the same things every day which are write, read, and wander my cell.

This afternoon my Christian friend Tim stopped by after his AA Meeting. We talked for about an hour and half. I always find it weird hearing myself talk to someone besides my wife. I am not a talker. Tim and I talked about maybe taking a train ride in the Spring out to Portland, Oregon. One of Tim's daughter's lives in Portland and he could visit her while I check out Powells Books. I have the time and the money, so what is preventing me from taking a road trip. I told Tim that the thought of leaving my cell freaks me out. I love my cell. We will wait and see if I find the courage to venture forth into the American Wasteland.

I spent most of the day either sitting in silence or reading the book "The Garden Of Paradise Or Holy Prayers And Exercises Whereby the Christian graces and virtues may be planted and improved in man, the divine image renewed, true Christianity promoted, the kingdom of God established and a heavenly life raised up in the Spirit" by John Arndt published in 1716.

Well I suppose I will close to sit in the dark till my wife comes home. Existence keeps zooming by.

"[9] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
[10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
[11] Give us this day our daily bread.
[12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
[13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
[14] For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
[15] But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
[16] Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
[17] But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
[18] That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly." Matthew 6:9-18
