Yesterday I picked up Carol at the Grand Rapids Airport around 3:45 PM. She drove us home. When we got home Carol made a grocery list and we went grocery shopping. This afternoon Caleb, Emily, and Josie are visiting Grandpa and Grandma/the old folks.
During the evening hours we watched television and went to bed early. Now is is another day to figure it all out before everything ends with a bang.
The last book I attempted to read yesterday was a book titled, "Tending the Holy: Spiritual Direction Across Traditions" Edited By Norvene Vest. I am reading in this book Chapter Six: From a Graceful Center Spiritual Directions for Evangelicals by Lisa A Myers.
I did get out this morning to read these book for morning worship. One thought I have had lately goes with music. I have noticed lately how much music is a part of day to life in the world. I do not think we realize music is religious in nature. Man is a religious being making music is an expression of his/her spirituality. To me everything that goes on in the world is religious. Man was made to worship God. Instead of using music to show worship to God, man performs music to false gods. All music is a form of religious praise. It seems most music being performed in the world is directed to idols or false ideas of existence. All music is an interpretation/commentary of/on reality.
Well back to the books I got out to read this morning.
"'Return to Me' A Biblical Theology of Repentance" by Mark J. Boda
"Luke" New Testament III Reformation Commentary On Scripture Edited By Beth Kreitzer
"Tending the Holy: Spiritual Direction Across Traditions" Edited By Norvene Vest
Well I suppose I will close to drift through the morning hours. There is no way out.
"[14] Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
[15] See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
[16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
[17] Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
[18] And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
[19] Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
[20] Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
[21] Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God." Ephesians 5:14-21
