a closed bedroom door

It is 1:36 PM Wednesday afternoon here in West Michigan. Existence keeps decaying full speed. When will people realize they do not have the time in the world to get ready to meet their Creator and Judge? Come on people you better wake up before the day of grace comes to a close.

I got up this morning around 8:45 AM. I slept in late because I did not fall asleep last night till around 1:30 AM. Lately I have had a hard time falling asleep at night. Now it is easy for me fall asleep during the afternoon and evening hours but not when I go to bed. Now I find that weird.

So I got up made a pot of coffee and ate a bowl of cereal. Carol got home from work around 9:39 AM. She had a class after working all night so she got home late from work. I messed with the computer and then wrote in my paper diary. After writing in my diary I read some more of the book 'Sanctification' by Michael Allen. Around 11:10 AM our furnace man came to service our furnace.

I mowed the lawn and raked leaves this afternoon for the last time. Now I am sitting here writing in my online diaries. Existence keeps speeding by.

Last night I read and watched a movie I had taped. I went to bed around 11:30 PM. I also made a video last night for my Booktube channel.

Well I will close to wait it out. I am trapped in block of ice.

throw me a life line

It is in the flow of my ordinary middle class American Christian evangelical existence 4:39 PM Wednesday late afternoon. It is still cold and gray outside. I did do some yard work this afternoon. I mowed our front lawn and raked leaves. I cleared the front of our house of dead leaves and put them in a garbage container to be picked up this coming Friday. We have street cleaners that go through town and sucks all the leaves off the curbs. The city of Holland is a very clean city compared to other Michigan cities. I suppose Holland is a product of clean Dutch Reformed culture. Holland is a good town to raise a family in if that is what you are seeking in this fleeting life.

I did make a decision after doing yard work to visit just one near by thrift store to look at their used books. I found these used books today for our library-

'Goodbye to All That' autobiography by Robert Graves

'Einstein: The Life and Times' biography by Ronald W. Clark

'I Lock My Door Upon Myself' a novella by Joyce Carol Oates

'The Assignation: Stories' by Joyce Carol Oates

'Dorothy And Red' a biography by Vincent Sheean (Dorothy Thompson & Sinclair Lewis (Red) married)

'Old Glory: An American Voyage' travel memoir by Jonathan Raban

'The Kennedy's: An American Drama' biography by Peter Collier & David Horotwitz

'Newton and the Counterfeiter: The Unknown Detective Career of the World's Greatest Scientist' by Thomas Levenson

'Eliot Porter American Places' photographs Text by Wallace Stegner & Page Stegner

'The Art Of The Popes From The Vatican Collection' Edited by Maurizio Fagiolo dell'Arco

'The Americans: Fifty Talks on our life and times' by Alistair Cooke

I got all these used books for $5.00 because for every two books I bought I got one free/paperbacks twenty five cents and hardbacks were fifty cents. Made out like a crazy old book freak today. This coming Friday I will go to a local Bazaar where among a ton of other stuff there will be tables of used books for sale. After visiting this Bazaar I have to volunteer at the local library used bookstore from 10 AM till 1 PM. Carol is off this coming Thursday and Friday. There is always hope for something to happen.

Before doing yard work this afternoon I read some of the book, 'The Lonely City: Adventures In The Art Of Being Alone' by Olivia Laing.

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation." 1 Peter 2:9-12
