there is a spiritual body

It is 7:08 AM Saturday morning in the flow of being alive. Yesterday as I was out driving around Holland I was thinking about having a soul or spirit. I thought to myself how strange it must be to believe that when my body dies my soul lives on forever. There is a me that is invisible which is my soul or spirit. No one in this physical world can see my soul. To believe I have a soul or spirit is an act of faith. What proof do I have that I have a soul that will not die when my body dies? It all comes down to the Bible. The Bible sets forth a doctrine of man which says I have a soul. This soul or spirit will be clothed with a glorified body when I am raised from the dead on the Last Day.

So here I sit waking up to another day. This morning I volunteer at the Herrick District Public Library used books store from 10 AM till 1 PM. I will come home after volunteering at the book nook and drift through the rest of the day. Carol works tonight so I will be alone most of the day.

Last night I finished reading the novel titled, “Leaving The Atocha Station” by Ben Lerner and started reading another novel titled, “Zeroville” by Steve Erickson. I went to bed around 10:15 PM last night. Now it is another day to go through. There is no way out.

Well I will close to do what comes next.

“[38] But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
[39] All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
[40] There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
[41] There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
[42] So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
[43] It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
[44] It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
[45] And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
[46] Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
[47] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
[48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
[49] And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.” First Corinthians 15:38-49

O Happy Soul That Lives On High

O happy soul that lives on high
While men lie groveling here!
His hopes are fixed above the sky,
And faith forbids his fear.

His conscience knows no secret stings,
While peace and joy combine
To form a life whose holy springs
Are hidden and divine.

He waits in secret on His God,
His God in secret sees;
Let earth be all in arms abroad,
He dwells in heav’nly peace.

His pleasures rise from things unseen,
Beyond this world and time;
Where neither eyes nor ears have been,
Nor thoughts of sinners climb.

He wants no pomp nor royal throne
To raise his figure here;
Content and pleased to live unknown,
Till Christ, his life, appear.

He looks to Heav’ns eternal hill
To meet that glorious day;
But patient waits his Savior’s will
To fetch his soul away.

breaking through illusion to the reality of love

It is 2:57 PM Saturday afternoon. It is still sunny outside. I thought about going for a walk someplace, but I am not in the mood. I also rather walk during the morning hours and not afternoon hours.

I had a normal time at the Herrick District Public Library used books store. When not helping people with their used books I read, "After The Tall Timber: Collected Nonfiction" by Renata Adler. I brought home from the book nook these three used books to add to our book collection-

"A History Of Heaven: The Singing Silence" by Jeffrey Burton Russell (I already had this book, but my copy is a paperback. This edition is nice clean brand new hardback edition.)

"Isaac Newton" biography by James Gleick (I recently bought used Gleick's book, "The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood".)

"Boone: A Biography" by Robert Morgan (I have another book by Robert Morgan in our library titled, "Lions of the West: Heroes and Villains of the Westward Expansion".)

My friend Tim stopped by the book nook. He is slowly feeling better. He asked if I could take him to a grocery store after I was finished volunteering at the book nook. So after the book nook I drove Tim to a grocery store and then took him home. When I got home I ate lunch and cleaned the kitchen. I also made myself a fresh pot of coffee and now I am writing in my blogs. Not much else to report. Carol is sleeping and nothing came in the mail to bring in the Kingdom of Glory. Well, I will close to recover from life.

Frank Black

It is 8:53 PM Saturday night in the flow of existence. I can still hear birds outside chirping. Now it is Spring the birds stay up later. I wonder when we will start seeing baby birds by our bird feeder.

I keep wondering when Frank Black and the Catholics are going to put out a new record. I read recently they are going to put out a Frank Black and the Catholics box set/their seven albums. I also read tonight Frank Black is worth 145 million dollars. I wonder if that statement is true?

I had a normal day. I had a normal time at the library book nook today.

This day went by quietly. I read my books and wandered the house. This evening I have been reading a novel I started reading last night titled, "Zeroville" a novel by Steve Erickson.

the novel "Zeroville" being made into a movie by James Franco

At the book nook I read some more of the book, "After The Tall Timber: Collected Nonfiction" by Renata Alder. This book contains essays she wrote for the New Yorker magazine/the essays are gems of biting wit/satire. Alder pulls no punches/goes quietly for the throat.

interview with Renata Alder

Lately I have found no interest in watching TV. I rather read my books or listen to music. Watching TV is a waste of time. I rather read my books and go someplace cool inside my mind. Why waste time on shit TV? "Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your ways" Psalm 119:37

I suppose I will close to read. Tomorrow is a Sunday/a new week/we are going into the middle of the month. Existence keeps rotting.

"[14] Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
[15] For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
[16] For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
[17] For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
[18] While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinth. 4:14-18
