Palm Sunday

It is in the flow of redemption of the cosmos 8:32 AM Sunday morning. A cold partly sunny morning here by Lake Michigan.

I got up this morning around 6:44 AM. When I got up I found my wife reading her Bible in the living room. I immediately made us oatmeal for breakfast. After breakfast I messed with our main computer and then wrote in my paper diary. After writing in my paper diary Carol and I went downtown to Reader's World bookstore to get a Detroit Free Press Sunday newspaper. While at the bookstore Carol bought a children's book and I bought a book titled, "Leaving The Atocha Station" a novel by Ben Lerner. Now we are home going through our short lives. Our lives are short compared to the fact after our bodies die but our souls will continue on for eternity either in Hell or Heaven. Well, our resurrected bodies will live forever in a Eternal State of bliss or woe.

This morning Carol will go to Covenant PCA. I will stay home and read my books and wait for the Second Coming. I remember these words in the Gospel of Matthew, "Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the good man of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh" Matt. 24:42-44.

Last night while Carol watched college basket I sat in my main study and read some more of the book, "The Gray Notebook" by Josep Pla. We went to bed around 10:30 PM.

make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God

"The Prophecy Of Isaiah Fulfilled. Martin Bucer: In this passage, Isaiah prophesies of the preaching of the gospel, which would be begun by John but not finished. The prophet includes this under the type of deliverance made by Cyrus. And so he writes, "Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for. . . A voice of one calling: 'In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.'" The sense and meaning of the words of the prophet are this: O chosen and true Isralites, he shall give the command to his preachers to preach a new consolation and the gospel of grace, that your hearts may be filled with courage and be joyful. He shall command them also to shout forth with a loud voice that the time is fulfilled in which he must fight with all kinds of evil, that iniquity is forgiven and pardoned, after he has received sufficient correction for all his sins. And shortly, the voice which is the proclaimer of felicity shall be heard crying out in the wilderness, that is to say, among the people of Israel who are devoid of all piety. It shall exhort all people to prepare the way of the Lord and to make the path straight for our God; that is to say, they should put away all false religion and other sins, and all ridiculous trust in the law and in human reason, and receive the obedience of the Word of God and faith in Christ. By means every valley shall be exalted and every hill brought low; that is to say, whatever shall be inconvenient or in the Lord's way will be removed. Human traditions which are against the Word of God will be condemned, trust in works will fail, pride in reason will be forsaken, the flesh with it vices and concupiscence will be crucified and people will repent and be renewed. Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed by the gospel throughout the whole world, and all flesh, that is to say, all mortal beings, will see, acknowledging by true faith that the mouth of the Lord has spoken the truth. They will see the Messiah offered to them by whom God has appointed salvation for all humankind. AN ECCLESIASTICAL EXPOSITION UPON SAINT LUKE." pg. 78 "Luke" Reformation Commentary on Scripture

"[2] Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
[3] And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
[4] As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
[5] Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
[6] And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
[7] Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
[8] Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
[9] And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." Luke 3:2-9

Zion, haste to meet thy king

Sion, haste to meet thy king,
Psalms and glad hosannas sing,
Strew thy palms, thy garments spread,
For the Judge of quick and dead!

Meek, He rides upon the colt;
God, who wields the thunderbolt,
Lays His royal glory by
In our flesh for man to die.

Enter now the temple gate,
Where He stands in princely state;
Join the children’s song of praise
To the King of endless days.

For the Lord who comes with grace,
Soon shall show His shining face;
Christ, who for our sins atoned,
Comes ’mid angel hosts enthroned.

Heavens shall vanish like a scroll,
Sun and moons in darkness roll,
When the dead the trumpet hear,
When the judgment books appear.

On that day of doom and grace,
Grant us with Thy saints a place,
Save us from the realms of night,
Clothe us with eternal light.

"All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass" Matthew 22:4,5
