lash out in nihilistic fury

It is in the flow of existence 8:11 AM Friday morning. It is not as cold as it was yesterday. But it is predicted to snow once more next week. We are coming to the end of the month of January soon.

I got up this morning way too early for this old man. A weird dream this morning woke me up so instead of staying in bed battling this weird dream I got up. I made a pot of coffee and messed with our main computer. As I was on the computer my wife got up to face it. As she washed lettuce as I made us a pot of oatmeal for breakfast.

Last night Carol got home from a Woman's Bible study around 9:10 PM. When she got home I was sitting in the dining room reading a novel titled, "Almanac Of The Dead" by Leslie Marmon Silko. We watched some television around 10 o'clock PM and went to bed around 11 o'clock PM.

I have no plans for the day ahead of me. I need to drive out to a thrift store today and buy a used novel by John Updike titled, "In The Beauty Of The Lilies" that I saw yesterday and realized later on I did not have this novel in my John Updike Collection. Carol goes back to work tonight so she has to sleep this afternoon.

Well I suppose I will close to feel wasted. I need to go back to bed. Go down into the lower level and lay down in the dark surrounded by my books.

"[1] The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
[2] Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
[3] There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
[4] Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
[5] Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
[6] His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
[7] The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
[8] The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
[9] The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
[10] More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
[11] Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
[12] Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
[13] Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
[14] Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." Psalm 19

More like Thee

More like Thee, O Savior, let me be,
More like Thee from day to day;
Never let me from Thy footsteps stray,
Keep me in the narrow way.

More like Thee, more like Thee,
More like Thee, O Christ, like Thee;
By Thy grace, O let me day by day
Grow more and more like Thee.

More like Thee, O Savior, let me be,
Pure without, and pure within;
Keep me ever from the ways of sin,
I the crown of life would win.

More like Thee, O Savior, let me be,
All my pilgrim journey thro’;
Meek and lowly, ever kind and true,
Like Thyself in all I do.

Bibles For Mexico

I left the house for a few minutes this morning and visited a thrift store a few minutes from where we live out our middle class lives. I found these used books today to add to the heap-

"Washington, D.C." a novel by Gore Vidal hardback

"No-Man's Land: One Man's Odyssey Through The Odyssey" travel memoir by Scott Huler

"The Birchbark House" a children's book by Louise Erdrich

"Love Medicine" a novel by Louise Erdrich (expanded edition)

Holy Bible Large Print Edition hardback very old but readable

I have been mainly today running around the house like a chicken with his head cut off. Carol went to bed after making a big pot of rich creamy potato soup. Well nothing else to report.

I suppose I should mention that this morning Carol and I went grocery shopping again. Carol needed some stuff to make potato soup. After grocery shopping we drove out to Salvation Army thrift store so I could get that Updike novel, "In The Beauty Of The Lilies," that I wanted to add to my John Updike Collection. I want to get back into reading that biography on John Updike titled, "Updike" by Adam Begley this year.

"[22] The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
[23] I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
[24] When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
[25] Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
[26] While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
[27] When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
[28] When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
[29] When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
[30] Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
[31] Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
[32] Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
[33] Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
[34] Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
[35] For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
[36] But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death." Proverbs 8:22-36
