Wonderful words of life

Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life,
Let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life;
Words of life and beauty teach me faith and duty.

Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life,
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

Christ, the blessèd One, gives to all wonderful words of life;
Sinner, list to the loving call, wonderful words of life;
All so freely given, wooing us to heaven.

Sweetly echo the Gospel call, wonderful words of life;
Offer pardon and peace to all, wonderful words of life;
Jesus, only Savior, sanctify us forever.

"[15] That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
[16] Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain." Phil. 2:15,16

union with Christ is a key theme of Pauline theology

It is 9:48 AM Monday morning in the flow of the history of redemption. It is a cold gray day here by Lake Michigan. It is not snowing right now.

Carol has gone to bed for the day. I am in my main study singing praises to the Lord Jesus Christ. "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord" Ephesians 5:18,19.

I got up this morning around 7 o'clock AM. I made a pot of coffee and messed with our main computer. Carol called to tell me she was off work and ready to come home. When we got home I made myself a pot of oatmeal for breakfast. I then wrote in my paper diary and now I am writing in my blogs. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" Matt. 5:16.

Last night I read "Postwar: A History of Europe Since 1945" by Tony Judt and watched TV shows on our Amazon Prime. I went to bed around 11:15 PM. I did watch professional football yesterday.

I got out to read this morning for devotions a book titled, "Salvation Applied By The Spirit: Union with Christ" by Robert A. Peterson.

Well I will close to drift through another day. There is nothing pressing on my mind this morning. I might leave the house this morning to visit thrift stores to look at their used books. I will close to fed the birds and see what comes next.

"[1] And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
[2] Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
[3] Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
[6] And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
[7] That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:1-9

Believers are a dwelling place for God

It is in the flow of being united to the Risen and Exalted Lord Jesus Christ the King of Glory 2:41 PM. I left the house today and visited thrift stores to look for used books to add to our library. I found these used books today-

"Almanac Of The Dead" a novel by Leslie Marmon Silko

"The Book Borrower" a novel by Alice Mattison

"The Pale King" a novel by David Foster Wallace

"Henry James: A Life" biography by Leon Edel

"Quiet Day In Clichy & The World Of Sex" two books by Henry Miller

"Quinn's Book" a novel by William Kennedy

"Moon Tiger" a novel by Penelope Lively

"The Cloud Forest: A Chronicle of the South American Wilderness" by Peter Matthiessen

"Mudwoman" a novel by Joyce Carol Oates

Before I left the house I made a chicken pot pie for something to eat tonight. Last night I made a pizza. I was going to make corn bread today, but can not find the corn meal.

Not much else to report. Existence keeps speeding by!

"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us" Romans 5:5

Dr. R. C. Sproul: The Psychology of Atheism

Today one of my LJ friends who claims to be an atheist wrote something that caused me to make some remarks about the nature/cause of atheism and why as a Christian I love/believe the Lord God. When I was in seminary many moons ago one of my professors was Dr. R. C. Sproul. Dr. Sproul wrote a book on the psychology of atheism that I read years ago. I thought I would post this YouTube video where Dr. Sproul lectures on the psychology of atheism.

"[16] For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
[17] For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
[18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
[19] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
[20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
[21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
[22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
[23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
[24] Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
[25] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen." Romans 1:16-25
