Handel's Messiah

"For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God" Job 19:25,26

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is" 1 John 3:2

anything written by Enoch could not have survived the Flood

It is 11:44 AM late Sunday morning in the flow of divine providence. A warm damp gray day here in West Michigan. They opened the other golf clubs so people could golf because there is no snow on the ground and the grass is still green. Weird. Last year this time of year we were covered with tons of snow. It does not look like people will have a white Christ Mass around here this year.

I got up this morning around 8 o'clock AM. I got up made coffee and then messed with our main computer. I am really tempted this week to get us a new computer. I did bring up from the lower level (basement) my old lap top computer and set if up in my main study to use. I should instead bring up my newest lap top computer and use that one instead in my study. I am waiting for my wife to make the final decision to get us a new computer because she mainly uses this computer when she is not busy.

It has been a normal morning around here. I have been mainly wandering the house and reading from a book titled, "Hidden But Now Revealed: A Biblical Theology of Mystery" by G. K. Beale & Benjamin L. Gladd.

Not much else to report this morning. I might watch professional football this afternoon. Well I will close to wait out the day.

"[14] And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
[15] To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." Jude 14,15

Handel's Messiah "who shall stand when He appeareth?"

"[1] Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to this temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
[2] But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:
[3] And he shall sit as a refiner and purifer of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness." Malachi 3:1-3

"[42] Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
[43] But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
[44] Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
[45] Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
[46] Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
[47] Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
[48] But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
[49] And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
[50] The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
[51] And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 24:42-51

Interpreting the Scriptures from a Christocentric perspective

It is 8:55 PM Sunday night in the End Times. It was a normal day for me. Nothing crazy happened today. I watched professional football and talked to our son Josiah on the telephone. Now I am helping Carol get the house ready for Emily and Josie.

I did leave the house this afternoon to pick up a pair of jeans I ordered at Penny's. Because I have lost so much weight none of my pants fit me any longer. I was gone only about 20 minutes to pick up my new jeans. When Carol and I got married one of the first things we did as a newly married couple is open a Penny's charge card account. We have been buying material goods from Penny's Department stores going on 35 years. I still have in a closet a church dress coat I bought at Penny's when Carol and I were recently married. This coat no longer fits me, but I keep it to remember those first months of married life. Where have the years gone? Tomorrow we will be spending a few days with our daughter-in-law Emily and our three month old granddaughter Josie Joy. The Lord has been good to Carol and I over all these many long years.

So another day has gone by. Tomorrow we will be in the middle of the month. Existence keeps speeding by! No way out.

"[19] And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
[20] And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
[21] But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
[22] Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;
[23] And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
[24] And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
[25] Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
[26] Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
[27] And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
[28] And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
[29] But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
[30] And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
[31] And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight." Luke 24:19-31
