Kollen Park

It is 9:03 AM Wednesday morning in the flow of life. This morning I took Rudy for a walk at Kollen Park. I did not want to leave him here all day without taking him for a walk. Every day since Carol has been gone Rudy looks at me with that look that says "Please take me for a walk". I usually ignore him and tell him to go lay on the couch and chew one of his feet. Rudy usually goes off with his head lower depressed and jumps on the couch to wait for his mother to come home.

I plan to pick up my friend Tim around 10 o'clock AM to head out to Lake Michigan to take pictures. I am sure the Lake today will be flat no extreme wave action this morning.

Well I will close.

It is 5:38 PM Wednesday evening in the flow of life. It has been a busy day for this old fart. I plan to lay low the next seven days. I do have to leave the house this coming Saturday to volunteer at the Herrick Public Library used books store from 10 AM till 1 PM. I have been volunteering at the book nook for a couple of years. I like being around books.

I picked up Tim at 9:50 AM this morning to drive out to Pier Cove Beach on Lake Michigan to take pictures and just enjoy the late Summer weather. Tim and I enjoyed the Lake and had a picnic at a county park down the road from Pier Cove called Wide Side County Park. In the past Carol and I have come to this park with Rudy. (I miss my wife. When will she come back to me?) After Tim and I had our lunch we visited another small park called Sunrise Park. After visiting this park over looking Lake Michigan we headed back to Holland. I asked Tim if he needed to go anyplace for anything. Tim needed to go grocery shopping so we went to Meijer's grocery store. After grocery shopping I drove Tim back to his place and dropped him off. We might get together for coffee next week.

I came home after dropping off Tim to regroup. I down loaded the pictures I took this morning at the Lake and then decided to hit the road to visit thrift stores. It is suppose to storm tomorrow and Friday so today was the day to visit thrift stores to search for used books to ADD to our small town library. I found these used books to ADD to our book collection this afternoon.

"A Flame Of Pure Fire: Jack Dempsey and the Roaring '20's" by Roger Kahn

"A Spy In The House Of Love" a novel by Anais Nin

"The Heartsong of Charging Elk" a novel by James Welch

"Little Bird Of Heaven" a novel by Joyce Carol Oates

"My Lives: An Autobiography" by Edmund White

"The Shorter Pepys" by Samuel Pepys

"The Passion" a novel by Jeanette Winterson

"The Bridge of the Golden Horn" a memoir by Emine Sevgi Ozdamar [Translated by Martin Chalmers] With an Introduction by John Berger

"Waiting for the Barbarians" a novel by J. M. Coetzee

"Heese: A Collection of Critical Essays" Edited by Theodore Ziolkowski

After visiting thrift stores I stopped at a grocery store to stock up for my trip to Africa. So has gone my fat middle class existence. Not much else to report. I will close to eat hot dogs and wait for The End.

Shadows

I fall, in the cutting room
Straight to the floor, before the film is through
Today in my head, that field of reason why
Come a little closer, honey
And touch the fire
How long do I have here with you?
The flowers that once were a new
Shadows

Heaven waits, in the darkness of a room
And the shaking at the gates,
From here to Timbaktu
Cold front rolls in, like a black balloon
And it sinks into your soul
And you tell it what you knew

How long do I have here with you?
How long do I have here with you?
How long?
The flowers that once were anew
Shadows

The mystery of the stars
That fell from your eyes
Watch it as it burns
Like I'm sitting on fire
That mountain is tall
And you know you'll have to climb
Put your arms around me
And let's go for a ride

How long do I have here with you?
How long do I have here with you?
How long?
The flowers that once were anew
Before the shadows
