he was still leery of exhibiting the telltale signs of literary sophistication

It is in the natural flow 4:07 PM Saturday late afternoon. It is 87 degrees outside right now, but we have our central air system blowing. I am down in the lower level of our house writing on my old lap top computer. I should use my new lap top computer, but this old one keeps running so I will use it for the time being.

I have had thus far a normal day. I got up this morning around 7 o'clock AM and decided to go back to bed down here where it was cold and dark (our bedroom was hot this morning). I got up around 8:45 AM to find Carol getting up to face existence.

I left the house to volunteer at the local library book nook around 10 o'clock AM. The book nook was not busy, so I read till it was time for me to leave which was around 1 o'clock PM when another book nook volunteer showed up to take my place. When I got home I ate lunch and then decided to take a nap. I got up from a nap around 3:10 PM and now it is 4:12 PM. So my American life slowly flows by. Here today and gone tomorrow.

Today I have been reading or have read, "The Complete Works Of Isaac Babel" Edited by Nathalie Babel Translated by Peter Constantine.

I did not find anything at the book nook today to bring home to add to our library. Sometimes one comes up empty handed.

Last night I read from a book titled, "The Shadow Of The Sun" by Ryszard Kapuscinski and watched television. I went to bed around midnight.

Well not much else to report. There is nothing pressing on my mind today. I will close to face the coming darkness.

birds caring for their young

These days I watch from our kitchen window mother birds feeding their young. I see robins, cardinals, cowbirds, sparrows, titmouses and nuthatches caring for their young around our bird feeder. I have been throwing corn and sunflower seeds on the ground for the birds besides filling the birdfeeder and the suet container with suet. We have had several families of downy and hairy woodpeckers at our suet lately.

I often think that if mother birds are so concern with feeding their young surely the Lord will take care of His covenant people.

His eye is on the sparrow

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain

"[27] What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
[28] And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
[29] Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
[30] But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
[31] Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
[32] Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
[33] But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 10:27-33
