an act of auto-genocide committed by a people terrified of modernization

It is 8:54 AM Wednesday morning in the frozen Midwest. It is snowing and 10 degrees outside this morning.

I got up this morning around 6 o'clock AM. I woke up this morning thinking of this verse from the Epistle to the Hebrews, "for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God" Hebrews 11:10. Someday Christians will be living in the City of God. When I die I will be in the City of God. In the New Creation the redeemed humanity will be living in a City. Christians are city dwellers.

When I got up I found my wife watching television. She got up this morning around 3 o'clock AM. This morning she is leaving to take an elderly friend out for lunch or breakfast. I personally would not travel anywhere in this bad winter weather. My wife hates sitting around the house when she is off from work. My wife has been in a constant state of activity.

I have done the usual things this morning. I have done nothing mind blowing this morning.

I cover this afternoon for someone at the Herrick Public Library used bookstore from 3 o'clock AM till 5 o'clock PM.

Last night I watched television and went to bed around 11:15 PM.

In the mail last night I received two used books I had ordered from Amazon.

"U and I: A True Story" by Nicholson Baker

"Matthew Joseph Bourgeois Bohemian" biography by David E. Shi

I have been reading since last night "U and I: A True Story" by Nicholson Baker.

"Baker ponders novelist John Updike in this alternately self-deprecating and self-aggrandizing essay."

I have been reading the writings of John Updike for years, that is why I bought this book by Baker "U and I: A True Story". More could be written but why?

Well I suppose I will close to drift. Try to not fall into a coma.

The Celestial City

There is a city built on high,
From earthly sorrows free,
Bought by a Savior’s precious blood,
A home for you and me.

Refrain

I will meet you in that city,
In that bright celestial city,
Where all sorrow, pain, and parting will be o’er;
I will meet you in that city,
In God’s everlasting city,
There we’ll praise Him with our loved ones gone before.

Its gates are pearl, its streets are gold,
Its walls are jewels rare;
No need of sun or moon to shine,
For God is brightness there.

Refrain

There peace and joy will reign complete,
There’ll be no night or strife;
Oh, will your name be written in
The Lamb’s great book of life?

Refrain

"The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass" Rev. 21:21

Windmill Island Gardens

Before I went to the Herrick Public Library used bookstore to take over for a volunteer who asked me to cover for her, I took a fast walk in the bitter cold at Windmill Island Gardens. I try to take pictures of Windmill Island throughout all four seasons.
