the Menckenites were jumping out of penthouse windows

It is 8:29 AM Monday morning in the flow of existence. It is 44 degrees this morning and the sky is clear. It is suppose to get cold this week. I am sure we have not seen last of the snow and ice.

I got up this morning around 6:30 AM. I got up feeling stiff and sore. When I got up I found my wife reading newspapers in the living room. I wonder how many people in the world have a room that lives. Why is a room described as living? Are there dead rooms?

I have a normal morning thus far. Nothing strange has happened this morning.

I have no plans for the day ahead of me. My main task today is not to fall asleep.

Last night my wife and I watched television and went to bed around 11 o'clock PM.

I already wrote in my paper diary this morning. I should go someplace for a walk since it is not snowing. I might visit thrift stores this morning to look at used books. Right now I feel like laying down in the dark and sleeping lightly.

Well I will close to face it. There is no way of escape.

the waves of human mediocrity were about to engulf his refuge

It is 4:15 PM Monday late afternoon. I just got up from a two hour nap. Now I am already face what comes next in life. How often we miss something wonderful because we failed to take a nap.

I laid down from 2 o'clock PM till 4 o'clock PM this afternoon. My wife is sleeping right now because she works tonight. My wife has been working as a nurse going on 40 years. The other day she told she can see herself hobbling off to work as a 70 year old woman. I told myself I do not expect to live to be 70 years old. I have already lived too long on this sin cursed earth.

What is like making love when one is 70 years old?

Carol and I left the house this morning around 9:50 AM to do errands and to visit thrift stores. Before coming home we stopped and got hamburgers to bring home for lunch. Carol had a coupon buy one and get the second hamburger free.

This morning I found only one used book to add to our Book Collection. I found this used book at the Bible For Mexico Thrift store, "American Jesus: How the Son of God Became a National Icon" by Stephen Prothero.

Today I have been mainly reading a book titled, "The Trip To Echo Spring: On Writers and Drinking" by Olivia Laing.

It is that time of day when I closed down. I will put my books away and get ready to face the coming darkness. Tomorrow is a Tuesday. There is no way out.

tree sun fire

When we look out our front door we can see across the street this giant pine tree. I love this tree. It pains me to think someday this tree might be destroyed. I pray all the time for this tree. I want this tree to live forever.
